Data science internships are a tricky thing. It sounds almost counterintuitive that there are intern positions available for a role where most employers look for advanced degrees. But they are, and the number of Data Science Intern job postings is growing rapidly every year.

Most of the roles for next summer haven’t been posted yet. However, I’ve found that employers typically begin posting applications any time from August to October. It may be a bit early to start applying for these Data Science Intern openings, but let me help you get ahead of the curve for when the time comes.

Needless to say, it helps to be ahead. Trust me, I know. I grinded through over 200 undergraduate intern applications and 50+ interviews leading up to last summer before eventually landing in a data science role at a tech unicorn.

This list is a compilation of those intern roles that were explicitly centered around data science. It’s recommended that you bookmark this so that you can come back to it as a reference when job hunting later on.

While fairly comprehensive, you’ll notice that my search was bias toward major cities, particularly on the west coast. I recommend that you focus on the companies themselves more so than their accompanying locations listed below, since locations often vary from year-to-year.

I’ve posted this list on my Github in Markdown format as well, where you’ll also find 150+ other previously offered intern roles listed there that aren’t explicitly for Data Scientists, but are somewhat related.

Lastly, this list is in no particular order and just because a company offered the position last summer is no guarantee that they will this upcoming summer! However, it’s an excellent starting point for your search. At least it was for me. My mission is to expand on a similar list that I used starting out with more recent, specified listings. Enjoy!
